Diez relatos cortos. Ocho se habían publicado antes en la revista mensual The Strand en 1899 y fueron reunidos en un solo volumen en 1901. El libro citado, como tal, se publicó en 1975; a los ocho relatos se les añadieron dos: el primero, que fue publicado póstumamente en 1925, y el último que indico. Los títulos originales son: The Last of the Dragons, The Book of Beast, Uncle James or the Purple Stranger, The Deliverers of Their Country, The Ice Dragon or Do As You are Told, The Dragon Tamers, The Fiery Dragon or The Heart of Stone and the Heart of Gold, Kind Little Edmund, The Isle of the Nine Whirlpools; y el cuento Billy the King, incluido en Oswald Bastable and Others (1905).
